Nine days have passed and I have secured acoommodation in an old house in Grangegorman. The asbestos in the bathroom is almost intoxicating, however, I have been given a little TV to watch the St. Patrick’s Parade in the morning and once the rain stopped, I enjoyed it live in the streets of the city.

With the body in Dublin and the mind somewhere else, I have also sorted out my visa, retrieved my social security number and enjoyed some Irish cuisine. The job front here is currently abysmal, the ‘credit crunch’ which started last year creeping into the country in the form of negative adverts and news of more Irish people emigrating. It does feel a bit odd to be an immigrant in a country where people are emigrating.
Consequently, I have been wandering about the ‘easier solution’ and obsessing around my emails and mobile to see if life will indeed show me the path to follow.

I write this post in awe, sitting on a worn out chair at the Polish internet cafe in gloomy Phibsborough, for moments ago it happened and, after 9 days of waiting, I still read the words ‘Congratulations’ and ‘You have been offered a Cabin Crew position’ with some tears in my eyes, at first thinking it was spam email, the email has brought much needed happiness on a day in which the energies were running particularly low.

My thoughts are now excitedly crystallizing: a life of flights, hotels, airplanes, uniforms will soon start in the Middle East. Perhaps not time for Ireland just yet.
