Fresh from the oven. My first ever monthly roster

Roster is out. The epic moment in which the idea of becoming cabin crew and traveling the world becomes a solid reality. My hands shake and hold the white piece of paper that will dictate my life for the next month in a series of codes placed in between vertical lines.

My carefully designed bidding paid off and the results are clearly visible.

My month starts with the Ditching Training in neighbouring Dubai, where we will fly to early in the morning and play in the cold waters of the simulators at the Emirates Aviation College, returning to Doha late at night and marking the beginning of (unheard) two consecutive days off.

The forty-six degrees Celsius, which are now a daily occurrence in the city, will be then soothed by the cool breeze of the Baltic Sea: Stockholm is my first official layover.
Three days off to follow, before the winds rock me back East to Dhaka in Bangladesh and forth West to Tripoli and Casablanca, flights I did not really bid for but that I will gladly operate.

Arriving from Tripoli early in the morning, I will have the minimum required of twelve hours to rest and return to the airport for a quick turnaround to the Emirati capital, returning to my apartment just in time for dinner, a quick catch up and a late afternoon flight to Male in paradisiac Maldives where a day in the sun is just what the body needs to recharge energies in preparation for a flight across the Indian Ocean to Doha in time for lunch, and a late dinner time flight to Zurich.

Not over with the flying for the month and after a quick turnaround to the industrial heart of Saudi Arabia in Dammam for breakfast, I will depart late at night for Beijing, where the month will finally be over as I walk out of my first roster in victory and sip on a green tea by Tiananmen Square.

  3. Very well said! I feel like I want to visit those destinations the way you describe it! hahaha!

That's not a bad roster believe me.. Few Turnarounds are fine.. but the minimum rest is tiring…

I also got the flights that I bid for.. I'm going home to MNL, CDG (Paris) and New York… I have few turnarounds though… also have London & Airport Standby (I didn't bid for it) hehe! Anyway, enjoy your flights!
